There will be a tremendous celebration on Saturday as the LSU athletic department will host a tailgate in Lot A for LSU students prior to the start of the spring football game. The tailgate for LSU students runs from 11 a.m. to noon and features free food and drinks along with EA Sports video games.

The gates to Tiger Stadium open at 11 a.m. on Saturday with the SEC Championship Celebration starting at 12:30 p.m. followed by kickoff for the spring game.

The pre-game ceremony will also include recognition of LSU's three 2011 national award winners - head coach Les Miles, and defensive backs Morris Claiborne and Tyrann Mathiew - for their accomplishments in 2011.

Miles was named National Coach of the Year by three organizations, including the Associated Press, while Mathieu won the Bednarik Trophy as the nation's top defender and Claiborne the Thorpe Award as the nation's top defensive back.

As far as the game itself,  it's a chance to watch LSU's new quarterback Zack Mettenberger in action.  He's said to be a pro-set passing quarterback, which is what LSU desperately needed last year in the BCS national title game against Alabama.

Also new, Tiger Stadium will undergo an expansion to handle a crowd of about 100,000, making it the third largest stadium in the SEC, and 7th largest in the country.
