LSU Softball Heads To Elimination Round
The LSU Softball Team has had an amazing post-season run this year, but the clock moved one minute closer to midnight yesterday.
The Lady Tigers were sent to the elimination round at the Women's College World Series after getting shutout by Florida 7-0. Carley Hoover took the loss for LSU after giving up two earned runs across four innings of work.
Florida's Kelly Barnhill, the National Player of the Year, got the victory to put her record on the year to 26-3. She got some insane defensive help from Florida third baseman Aleshia Ocasio, who went over the rail to secure a foul ball out, a play that topped highlight lists all night. It was also Florida's 40th shutout of the year, setting a new school record for the Gators.
LSU will play either Oregon or Baylor tonight at 8:30, and they won't know which of the two teams they'll face until after the Ducks and Bears play at 1:30 this afternoon. The Tigers will now need three wins to get to the best of three championship series in Oklahoma City.
