LSU has announced that they have fired Men’s Basketball Coach Johnny Jones.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva announced Jones’ dismissal on Friday morning and stated that all assistant coaches have been relieved of their duties too.

A nationwide search is on for the next men’s basketball coach at LSU. Alleva stated that the last two seasons under Johnny Jones have been a disappointment and that the poor performances by the team is what led to Jones’ dismissal.

When asked why Jones kept his job for the entire season Alleva stated that keeping a coach around for the entire season is the “right thing to do.” We should note here that is was Joe Alleva that fired Les Miles midway through the LSU football season last year.

LSU finished the season at 10-21 after being bounced out of the SEC Tournament in the first round. We will continue to follow this developing story out of LSU.
