How Many FBS College Football Teams Are Undefeated, Besides LSU?

The LSU Tigers football team is now 3-0 on the season. They have started the 2025 campaign with a big win on the road against Clemson, a sketchy win against Louisiana Tech, and a harder-than-expected win against Florida.

LSU is likely to expand their undefeated streak to 4 games as they host FCS opponent, the Southeastern Louisiana Lions on Saturday. Even though LSU is expected to win big, it will probably still be a fun night in Death Valley, with an in-state school sharing the lights on a Louisiana Saturday night.

If the Tigers move to 4-0 after this week's game, they won't be the only college football team with an undefeated record. In fact, right now there are 38 other unbeaten teams in the FBS.

What College Football Teams Are Undefeated?

Looking over the landscape of the FBS, there are a couple of conferences without an undefeated team, including the Sun Belt, Conference USA, MAC, and (what's left of) the Pac-12. Then you have the Mountain West Conference, who is home to UNLV and their 3-0 record.

In the ACC, there's a big list of teams without a loss. That includes Miami (FL), Georgia Tech, Florida State, Cal, Louisville, and NC State are either 2-0 or 3-0 on the season.

The American Athletic Conference is home to the undefeated teams from Navy, Memphis, North Texas, and Tulane.

In the Big 12, half of the conference is undefeated. There are 16 teams in the league, and 8 of them rank among those without a loss. Your undefeated teams are Iowa State, Houston, Texas Tech, Utah, BYU, Arizona, TCU, and UCF.

As wild as the numbers are in the Big 12, the Big 10 is crazier. Not even getting into the "how are there 18 teams in both the Big 10 and Big 12" conversation, this is more about 11 of the 18 teams in the Big 10 being undefeated going into Week 4 of the season. USC, Oregon, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State, Washington, Rutgers, and ohio state are all undefeated.

But the king of the undefeated conference mountain right now is the SEC. Obviously LSU in on the SEC list of undefeated teams, but they're just one of the 9 undefeated teams in the league. So 9 of 16 teams are currently undefeated in the SEC...that's 56% of the league who doesn't have a loss going into Week 4. Insane.
