LSU is an athletic powerhouse. You can't just say "football powerhouse" or "baseball powerhouse", because LSU has a well-rounded game.

If you look at the National Championships LSU athletics have won, you will see a WIDE range. There are over 50 National Championship LSU has claimed. To be fair, that's just the team sports. When you look at individual National Championships, LSU has more than 230 additional National Championships they can claim.

But one of the biggest draws for prep athletes to Baton Rouge is how well the LSU athletic program prepares athletes for the next level. Especially in football.

The term "DBU" did get thrown onto the LSU Football program just because they were good at the college level. Its because they produce NFL Draft Picks at the defensive back position as well as any other school. If not better.

This year, the LSU program could see more defensive backs get drafted into the NFL, but it probably won't be in the first round. In fact, there might only be a single LSU Tiger taken in the first round of this year's NFL Draft. But as many NFL fans will tell you, it only takes one team to make someone a first round pick.

This year's top rated LSU defensive back in most mock drafts is Zy Alexander. His NFL Draft Buzz grade suggests he will be a late round pick. But if one team falls in love with him, there's no telling how high he could end up.
