Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame May Have Their Best Class Yet
The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame may have lined up their strongest class ever for 2019.
Peyton Manning and Les Miles will highlight the 2019 class of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. Former Southern baseball coach Roger Cador, Peabody basketball coach Charles Smith and former Louisiana Tech quarterback Matt Dunigan will also be enshrined next year.
Les Miles was the Head Football Coach at LSU between 2005 and 2016. He took LSU's football team to a National Championship in 2011, and an overall record at LSU of 114-55, including 62 wins in the SEC. Miles isn't from Louisiana (he's from Ohio and played his college football at Michigan) but will be honored for his contributions to LSU.
Peyton Manning is a two-time Super Bowl Champion, five-time NFL MVP, and 14-time Pro Bowl selection. He's recognized as one of the best NFL players in history. He played his NFL career in Indianapolis and Denver, never for the New Orleans Saints (like his father Archie), and played his college football at Tennessee. But Manning is a New Orleans native, who played his high school football at Isidore Newman in New Orleans.
The 2019 class will be inducted on June 8th in Natchitoches.
