
Louisiana Natives Headline The 2017 College Football Hall of Fame Ballot
The 2017 College Football Hall of Fame ballot has been released and five Louisiana natives are on this years ballot. Peyton Manning (Tennessee), Marshall Faulk (San Diego State University),and Marc Zeno ( Tulane).The Hall of Fame inductees will be annoucned on January 6th. This Ballot has big names which will make you look back on these men who are soon to be in Canton, OH to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame and some that you probably don't even know what happened to them. Here are the popular players from that list. The inductees will be announced January 6, 2017.
Peyton Manning - QB Tennessee
- 1997 first team All-American
- 1997 Hesiman runner up
- Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Awards
- 3x All SEC selection
- 1997 SEC player of the year
- Tennessee leader in wins (39), passing yards (11,201), TD passes (89)
Marshall Faulk- RB San Deigo State University
- 3x first team All-American
- 3x Hesiman trophy finalist ( runner up 1992)
- Led nation is yards per game. (1991 & 1992)
- 1992 WAC player of the year
- Broke national record for most rushing yards in a game (386 rushing yards).
Tony Gonzalez- TE California
- 1996 first team All-American
- 1996 first team All-PAC
- 89 receptions, 1,302 yards receving, and 8 Tds during his college carrer.
Eric Dickerson- RB SMU
- Unanimous First Team All-American and finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 1982.
- 2x SWC Player of the Year
- Holds 14 SMU records including career rushing yards (4,450).
Torry Holt- WR North Carolina State University
1998 first team All-American
- 1998 ACC player of the year
- First team All-ACC as a Wide Receiver and Specialist
- N.C. State all time leader in receiving yards (3,379)
