Louisiana Little League Team Heads To World Series Final
River Ridge’s Eastbank All-Star Little League team is in the national spotlight this weekend. They are the first team from the state to ever make it to the US Final of the Little League World Series, which they won yesterday over Hawaii 9-5.
But the New Orleans area team isn't done in Williamsport, PA. They now move on to play the Little League International Champion Curacao this afternoon. In order to get to the finals, Curacao had to beat Japan 5-4.
Louisiana had to win a revenge game against Hawaii to make it into the final, and win the US Title. Hawaii had defeated Louisiana 5-2 earlier in the tournament.
The big star for Louisiana has been Reece Roussel, who came into the game against Hawaii just two hits away from the record for most hits in a single Little League World Series. A record he broke with a 2-RBI single in the US final.
But it wasn't his first major moment in the Little League World Series...his grand slam earlier this weekend woke everyone up to his record run:
Louisiana will play Curacao at 3pm Sunday.
