Louisiana gets a bad rap for a lot of things and many think it all starts with education. State Superintentendant of Education Dr. Cade Brumley has made a variety of positive changes, but has it been enough?

How does Louisiana rank against other states when it comes to education?

According to Wallethub.com, not well. In Wallethub's latest study, Louisiana ranked the third worst in the country for 2023's Most and Least Educated States in America. This makes me so incredibly sad. Obviously, the more education one has, the more opportunities and access to higher-paying jobs one has available. It's not rocket science. Likewise, employers are going to follow an educated workforce, which has major economic implications.

Sadly, Louisiana ranks 47th when it comes to the percentage of the population that holds a high school diploma and 49th for those with an associate's degree. When it comes to the percentage of the population that holds a bachelor's degree, we're 47th. Overall, we rank 48th for 'educational attainment' and 43rd for the 'quality of education.'

Obviously, there isn't an overnight fix, but it HAS to be fixed. Our kids are our future and our teachers can't do it alone. Heck, most of them are already frustrated beyond the point of caring and who can blame them?
