I saw the movie about Bonnie and Clyde,   starring Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway,   but I thought nothing about the real Bonnie and Clyde until I happened upon an exit that took me to Gibsland, La.

We were traveling to Shreveport on I-20 West and had to make a gas stop,  taking  exit 61 then to  Gibsland on Hwy. 154 .  Imagine our shock and amusement as we saw signs that "Bonnie and Clyde were killed here."

Wow! The notorious outlaws who went on a rampage killing people,  including nine police officers or  lawmen,  and robbing banks,  particularly rural gas stations and stores  from 1931 to 1934.

In fact, there's a  monument,  8 miles south of Gibsland on Hwy. 154, that  marks the spot where Bonnie and Clyde were ambushed.

There's also a Bonnie and Clyde Museum in Gibsland run by the son of one of the lawmen who ambushed Bonnie and Clyde in 1934.

The Museum's gift shop sells bricks from Ma Canfield's Cafe,  (supposedly  Bonnie and Clyde ate their last meal there.)  You can buy bricks from the Cafe for $20 each.   You can even purchase pieces of  Clyde's pants he was  wearing when riddled with bullets   for $200 apiece.
