They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that's especially true for Guinness World Records!

Apparently, there are quite a few Guinness World Records that happened in Texas; there's biggest feet, largest book published and largest belt buckle; but those are stories for another day! Today we're focusing on the time Dallas Cowboy fans broke a world record- and to this day, no one has beaten it!

The year was 2009 and the new home for the Dallas Cowboys, AT&T Stadium, had just been built in Arlington. The retractable roof was a sight to behold after the almost three years it took to build, not to mention the price tag: a whopping $1.15 billion!

Naturally, after it was completed, fans were eager to get that first glimpse of the stadium and experience it for themselves. With Wade Phillips as head coach and Tony Romo as quarterback, it was then that fans broke a world record!

On September 20, 2009, the Dallas Cowboys broke the NFL attendance record for a regular-season game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas against the New York Giants in their first regular season home game. Attendance hit 105,121, including 30,000 fans in standing-room only party plazas.

No other NFL fans have broken the record since! That game broke the previous record of 103,467, set in 2005 in Mexico City for a game between the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately, for Cowboys fans, they lost that game against the Giants that night; the final score was 33-31. But, no one really remembers the loss anymore because that night history was made! If there's one thing for sure, is that Cowboys fans are loyal- and that is the true world record right there!
