(KMDL-FM) - While the world has moved away from most physical media like DVDs and CDs, shifting to streaming movies and music, you'd think that things like old VHS tapes would be worthless, and for the most part, they are.

However, when it comes to nostalgia and collecting, there are a handful of VHS tapes of 1980s classics that, depending on the condition, can fetch up to as much as $50,000 or more.

Let's take a look at a few of these and see if you've got any gold just collecting dust in a closet.

What VHS Tapes Are Valuable?

Earlier this month, a Superman comic was discovered in an attic that eventually sold for almost $10 million at auction. Because of this, everyone is searching high and low for old comic books that could fetch a fortune.

If you've never been a comic book collector, don't worry, because maybe you've got some old VHS tapes lying around in a box under your bed or stashed away in a closet or storage unit.

High-Value & Highly Collectible VHS Tapes

Before we get started, there are a few very important things to keep in mind when it comes to how much money you could get if you happen to have any of the VHS tapes.

It's only worth what someone is actually willing to pay for it.

Condition is everything. When we're talking about someone willing to pay $30,000 for a VHS tape, it's going to have to be in fantastic condition.

Sealed first editions of these VHS movies are the key to the biggest payday.
