Everyone knows Halloween is that special time of year where kids dress up and get candy but sometimes those candies can be a bit boring. There are some candies that could add some flavor and spice, literally, but do not worry there are some candies that are just an experience every child needs.

Mexican candies have become very popular within the United States in recent years due to American's loving the cuisine but some candies are an acquired taste. For instance a lot of candies consumed in Mexico contain tamarindo (tamarind in English) or a type of chamoy. If you don't know what chamoy is then I am going to need you to read my previous article talking all about the yummy stuff over here.

For those that are wondering what could the difference be between American and Mexican candies, well, it's a lot. Some candies are known for being spicy but the fun part is licking all the spicy and salty goodness containing the sweet goodness beneath. Not all candies are spicy though. Some, like Tarritos, will make your tongue feel all kinds of fizzy or, like the Blue Paint Brush candies from brand Vero, make your whole mouth bright blue. There is also cajeta (caramel) made from cows milk that make you feel like a small kid but the best is cajeta made from goats milk because it's just so rich and the flavors are complex.

So it's safe to say when you eat Mexican candies it's almost like being in the Wonka Factory with different things to expect. I compiled a list of some of the best Mexican candies to give out this Halloween but I do suggest having separate bowls. One bowl for spicy candies and the other for non-spicy and give the kids a choice when they knock on your door.
