Texas will soon get a taste of winter all year round!  Alpine-X, a Virginia company that specializes in Winter Sports experiences, announced in March of 2022 they were bringing an indoor ski resort to Texas. Their press release was vague, but determined to hit the Lone Star state...

From Alpine X CEO, John Emery: “This is part of our growth strategy that targets major North American metropolitan areas. We are aiming to establish a footprint of Alpine-X branded resorts and the dynamic Texas market is a perfect spot for our properties. We’re excited to join forces with this group in Texas, who are passionate and experienced in the development, delivery, and operation of indoor entertainment venues.”

The next question was - where will they go first?

Well, a month later, on April 26 of 2022, Austin was in as reported by the Daily Texan...

"The Virginia-based business has plans to build at least two year-round ski resorts in Texas, one finding a home in Austin after signing a joint letter of intent. The planned resort will include areas designated for skiing, snowboarding, training and other related activities."

So, Austin is up first  with hopes of finishing by 2025.  Apparently it's not just the hot South that needs an indoor ski resort, according the Daily Texan, up North it has also been needed...

"Due to a warmer climate and less snowfall, indoor ski resorts are becoming more common. The first North American location opened in 2019 at New Jersey’s American Dream entertainment complex. However, Alpine-X is still in the construction phase with its flagship indoor ski resort, located in Fairfax County, Virginia, just outside of Washington D.C."

According to KVUE, Dallas is also in the mix to have a resort by 2025.  Sadly, there are no plans for an indoor Lubbock resort and year round snow...
