Sports memorabilia is one of the most common hobbies among men, which is why the industry is expected to be worth over $271 billion by 2034. Shaquille O'Neal hasn't played on a professional basketball court in years, but clearly the LSU alumnus still oozes star power because why else would his 1992 school ID be available at auction for thousands of dollars?

A Bid on LSU History

Goldin, an online auction website owned by eBay, has gotten their hands on a PSA authenticated Shaquille O'Neal one-of-one card. This card wasn't opened in a pack; it was hand-delivered to Shaq by whoever the staff was in the LSU office where they first issued his 1992 student ID. It's been confirmed that the ID is real and has Shaq's real signature across the top of the card, adding even more value to this card.

One of the previous owners of the card listed it at a buy-it-now price of $29,999 on eBay, but it seems the item was delisted so the real purchase price remains a mystery. The bid for Shaq's old campus card goes until August 9th and has a starting price tag of $5,000.

From Tiger Star to NBA Legend

Shaq's time at LSU has been overshadowed by his later career achievements, making it easy to forget he made a name for himself as a Tiger before everything else. As a Tiger from 1982 to 1992, O'Neal became a two-time All-American, a Adolph Rupp Trophy for best NCAA Basketball player of 1991, and twice was the SEC Player of the Year.

You can bid on Shaq's old school ID until Saturday, August 9th, so if you've got a soft spot for LSU history and a hole burning in your pocket, this piece of memorabilia could be yours.
