Highlights From Geekd Con 2025's Impressive Cosplay Scene

Geek'd Con 2025 has come and gone. Shreveport's comic con returned for it's 10th year in Downtown Shreveport, and the cosplay this year was better than ever. So many people came out in amazing cosplays, and you could tell they put a lot of thought, time, and energy into making them.

We put together a little collection of some of our favorites from this past weekend. These aren't the best, or all of our favorites, but just a sample of what we saw at Geek'd Con 2025.

What Is Cosplay?

Merriam-Webster's Dictionary describes cosplay as "the activity or practice of dressing up as a character from a work of fiction (such as a comic book, video game, or television show)". But the art is definitely not limited to that narrow definition.

You will see people build cosplays for historical figures, original creations, anime characters, mythical creatures, and anything that is exciting, interesting, or challenging for the creators.

How Much Cosplay Did We See At Geek'd Con 2025?

There was so much top-tier cosplay at Geek'd Con in Shreveport this year. You could estimate about 40% to 50% of those in attendance were in cosplay. That's over the whole weekend, where some attendees wore a different cosplay on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Not to mention the $1,000 Cosplay Contest on Sunday, which brought out some massive pieces of art, and some incredible makeup work.

How Do You Start Building A Cosplay?

Its actually easier than you might think. All you have to do is pick your favorite character, and get to work.

That "work" can be as simple as searching for a costume online, or starting to look up patterns to sew something together. The great thing about putting together a cosplay to wear to a convention is that you can do a ton of work on it, or just a little. Because at the end of the day, its really all about having fun. Even if you just have a Halloween costume, its totally cool to wear it out to your next convention.

But if you want to get really involved, you can utilize sewing patterns, makeup tutorials, 3D printing, and foam sculpting lessons to make something truly incredible.
