G-Unit Wrestling? How 50 Cent Could Bring a New Era of Pro Wrestling to Shreveport.
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson's been constantly in the headlines of Shreveport as he's gearing up to turn the city into an entertainment empire with G-Unit Films and Television. 50 has made clear he's got big plans for his business investments, and it wouldn't make sense for him not to dream big. Cashing in on Shreveport's rich history in the worlds of sports and entertainment, could 50 Cent's next move be to revive the city's long-dormant pro-wrestling culture?
Shreveport's Forgotten Wrestling History
During the 1980s, when the American wrestling landscape looked way different from what it is today, Shreveport was a major stop for Mid-South Wrestling. MSW was one of the biggest wrestling promotions in the United States at the time. Today, bigger companies like WWE and AEW have created a national and international tour schedule, yet neither company has made Louisiana a regular part of their road dates.
It hasn't helped that the only wrestling shows Shreveport gets are one-off events, which usually don't lead to much more. Without wrestling shows regularly landing in any of Shreveport's historic venues, there's a deep history that's seemingly been forgotten.
Could a G-Unit, NWA, or TNA Partnership Be Next?
50 Cent has made clear he truly believes "all roads lead to Shreveport," with his millions of investments into the city. G-Unit Television and Films will be creating high-budget productions from the city, but 50's other big investment comes from the Humor & Harmony Festival, as well as the G-Dome nightclub that's under construction.

The rapper clearly wants to bring big events to Shreveport, and one way he could is by tapping into Shreveport's deep history in the squared circle. There are two wrestling companies with enough star power that G-Unit could partner with to revive a forgotten culture.
Total Nonstop Action and the National Wrestling Alliance are two of the underdogs in the wrestling world, but both are tied to a legacy that's over 100 years old. The NWA is even owned by Billy Corgan, former Smashing Pumpkins vocalist turned business mogul, a similar story to 50 Cent.
While all of this is still a pipedream for now, the prospect of someone like 50 Cent building up a reborn wrestling scene in Shreveport is certainly exciting. If all roads lead to Shreveport, then one of those roads could eventually lead to Suplex City.
