Shreveport Police Investigating Shreveport Jail Inmate Death

The Shreveport Police Department is investigating the death of an inmate who died in a local hospital.

A woman was arrested back in September for Entering and Remaining After Forbidden. Last week, the woman was transported from the Shreveport City Jail to Ochsner LSU Health for a medical evaluation.

When they arrived at the hospital, the woman's condition worsened, and she began experiencing additional medical problems. Despite medical efforts, the woman passed away at the hospital.

From SPD:

"Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department’s Investigations Division are reviewing all aspects of this incident. Initial findings indicate that the female’s death appears to be the result of a catastrophic medical event. We will release the name of the individual once next of kin has been notified."
