Garbage collection in Shreveport is delayed for some neighborhoods. KEEL News reached out to Mayor Tom Arceneaux to ask about why some garbage on the Monday route has not been collected.

The Mayor says they have not gotten to all neighborhoods yet, including his. Usually mine is picked up early Monday morning, but it was still out on the curb on Tuesday morning.

Some of the neighborhoods impacted include Shreve City, Highland, Broadmoor and a few others.

What Is Causing the Delay in Picking Up Garbage?

KEEL reached out to Public Works Director Jarvis Morgan who told us: "At this time, several of our garbage trucks are out of service, which has impacted our ability to complete routes on their normal schedule." This means Monday's pickup will be completed on Tuesday and some of the Tuesday pickup areas will likely be pushed back to Wednesday. Wednesday is not a normal day for garbage pickup but it is used to catch up if things get delayed.

I thought the reason for the delay was the heat. It would be reasonable to think the guys and gals need extra breaks in this heat, but the problem seems to be with trucks out of service.
