Shreveport Amazon Facility Opening on Track and Now Hiring
There has been a lot of excitement and anticipation about the new Amazon Fulfillment Center scheduled to open in Shreveport. Amazon held an Open House and Tour for media personnel several months ago to get an inside look at the technologically-advanced facility.
KEEL News recently reached out to Divina Mims, Public Relations Coordinator for Amazon who told us the Shreveport facility is still on-track for a mid-summer opening for this year. Mims said that "Amazon has exciting plans for the Shreveport facility."
Amazon has already begun hiring more specialized positions so those employees will already be in place when the facility opens this summer. Mims told KEEL News that although the plant is still on schedule to open this summer, she can't yet confirm a specific date for the opening.
Amazon will begin their main hiring for most positions about 30 days prior to the opening of the facility. Mims said Amazon will also hold recruiting events around the community, as they look to fill over 1000 local positions, with an average pay of $17 dollars an hour, depending on the shift worked, and the job title.
In addition to the fulfillment center, Amazon also announced that they are building a second facility in Shreveport. This new complex is called a "last-mile facility". This new facility will be built at the Shreve Park Industrial Campus just off of Highway 3132 near West 70th. This Amazon complex will be about 87,000 square feet.

We appreciate the support of our great partners, including the North Louisiana Economic Partnership, the Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce, City of Shreveport, and Caddo Parish.”
