A large structure fire, and the smoke plume caused by it, are leading to concerns in West Shreveport this morning.

Shreveport Fire Chief Clarence Reese tells us that the fire is a "cooling unit" and is actually in Greenwood. According to Caddo 911 records, the address listed for the call is Antonie Blvd at West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop and John Petterway Jr Blvd. That address being listed sparked concerns that the fire could be located at the old GM plant in Shreveport, but the Shreveport Fire Department tells us this is not the large structure at the old GM building, but rather an adjacent cooling unit structure.

There are various industrial businesses in that area, which is why the Shreveport Fire Department has been called for assistance with this blaze, even though its technically located in Greenwood.

Caddo Fire District #4 posted on social media:

"Units from Caddo Fire District #4 and Caddo Fire District #3 were dispatched to the 7600 Block of Antoine BLVD at 9:28 this morning for reports of a commercial fire. Initial units arrived on scene to a large commercial structure heavily involved and mutual aid from Shreveport Fire Department was requested. We will update when we have more information available."

Records this morning show over 20 units have been on-site from Shreveport Fire alone.

Although initial information given to the Shreveport Fire Department indicated that the fire wasn't on the grounds of the old GM Plant, that IS where the fire is located. However, there is a big distinction being made that its not the main structure on the site.
