(KNUE-FM) A former optometrist in Longview pled guilty to possessing child pornography and will now be spending the next 40 years in the Texas Department of Corrections Institutional Division.

According to KETK, 51-year-old August Wallace used to work as an optometrist with an office in Longview but was taken into custody on October 10, 2025. His arrest came after investigators revealed that he had sent multiple explicit images of himself to a 16-year-old girl living across the country.

Details of the Investigation and Arrest

The criminal district attorney for Gregg County, John W. Moore, reports that Wallace was also requesting that the girl send explicit pictures of herself too, even threatening to kill himself if she didn’t send photos.

Law enforcement got involved after the victim’s family contacted them because Wallace sent a screenshot of her home and delivered letters to her location.

After he was arrested for online solicitation of a minor, the investigation continued which led to the discovery of numerous files on his phone containing explicit images of children. Additional charges were added including possession of child pornography.
