In an article from the Louisiana Radio Network, we see that Triple A fuel analyst Don Redman noted that the Louisiana statewide average price for regular gas today is only $2.85 per gallon and that's quite a savings from what we were paying at this same time last year.

According to Redman, "If you’re filling up in your gas tank you know already know we’re getting a much better break than we were this time last year. Almost 40 cents a gallon cheaper than we were this time last year."

Here in the Shreveport/Bossier area, we are even cheaper than the statewide average. Looking at the latest figures from GasBuddy.com, gas is as cheap as $2.42 per gallon at the Brookshires on Airline Drive in Bossier and several other locations have gas at $2.57 per gallon or under.

And considering the national average for regular gas which is $3.30 per gallon, Louisiana's average is 45 cents cheaper and here locally, we are a full dollar cheaper.

Redman elaborated on gas prices and how the price of fuel isn't the only factor we consider when deciding whether or not we might travel on Thanksgiving or any other holiday. "We’ve always found the price of gasoline itself doesn’t determine whether people travel or not, it’s how they feel about their personal economy."

Continuing on that, Redman added that things appear to be a little better financially this year when compared to 2022. "This is a great time that we’re seeing a break at the pump that we’ve been needing and even a little bit of a break at the grocery store."
