Nighttime Delays Expected on I-20 for Pavement Marking Project
I-20 through both Webster and Bienville Parishes could get a little testy for nighttime travelers over the next couple of months.

As work is finally nearing its end on the replacement of the LA 531 overpass in the Minden area, the DOTD has just announced plans to replace all the roadway striping and pavement markings on I-20 in Bienville and Webster Parishes.
In the announcement, DOTD is informing all motorists of the need to remove all the old I-20 striping and replace it with new roadway striping and reflectorized pavement markings.
At a cost of $385,305 this project will stretch from LA 154 (Exit 61) at Gibsland in Bienville Parish to US 371 (Exit 44) at Dixie Inn in Webster Parish.
Though this will cause some inconvenience to those traveling I-20, the good news is that DOTD is planning for the slow-moving striping operation to only be conducted at night in an effort to minimize the traffic impact in this thirteen mile section of interstate.
For those who might be unaware of the term "Pavement Markings", these are used to convey messages to roadway users. They indicate which part of the road to use, provide information about conditions ahead, and indicate where passing is allowed.
Pavement markings provide continuous information to motorists related to roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks.
The entire project should wrap up in late Summer/early Fall 2025, with progress dependent on weather conditions and other factors.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
