Drivers who routinely travel the Jimmie Davis Bridge connecting South Bossier to South Shreveport have gotten somewhat accustom to the routine detours and lane closures since work began on the construction of a new bridge in the area, but those drivers might be shocked to read this latest closure is permanent.

This lane closure is necessary for the construction of the new westbound lanes on LA 511 (Jimmie Davis Highway) as part of the ongoing Jimmie Davis Bridge replacement project.

However, all drivers should note that this closure of the northbound lane of Brookshire Arena Drive will be permanent. The southbound lanes will remain open at this time.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.

Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking or biking near an active work zone.
