The date for this year's Independence Bowl is better than the 2016. The game will be played on Wednesday, December 27th at 12:30pm.

The game will air on ESPN, marking this the 27th-consecutive year an ESPN network will carry the game.

Last years game featured the NC State Wolfpack against the Vanderbilt Commodores. NC State won the game 41-17. Attendance at the game was a dismal 28,000, but that is indicative of low turnout at bowl games across the country. Several bowls saw attendance drop below 20,000 last year. Here's a look at the numbers.

Our local bowl has agreements with the Atlantic Coast Conference and the SEC. Those agreements run through 2019.  We have a secondary agreement with the American Athletic Conference and Conference USA.

Our local area needs to step up and support the game if we want to keep a bowl game in our market. Tickets start at $30 for end zone seats, and sideline bench seats are $45. To get your tickets, call (318) 221-0712 or toll free at (888) 414-BOWL.

Bowl leaders are also working to secure a sponsor for this years game.
