He was also famous and beloved for his tireless efforts entertaining the United States Armed Forces with his numerous USO shows overseas.

Because of his amazing dedication to lighten the load of our troops with entertainment and laughs for so many years, he was honored.
In 1996, the U.S. Congress honored Bob Hope by declaring him the "first and only honorary veteran of the U.S. armed forces."

The star appeared in or hosted 199 known USO shows.
