Louisiana is expanding a program offering cash for residents who get the Covid vaccine in October. The state will now be issuing Visa credit cards loaded with $100 dollars for all residents who get the first shot in October. The Advocate reports Louisiana's 'Shot For 100' incentive was targeted at college students, but now the program is being expanded to anyone who is eligible for the vaccine.

Even children between 12 and 18 can get the Visa cards, but they will have to get parental approval.

What you need to know about the program:

1. You have to get the vaccine at participating at sites listed on ShotFor100.com.

2. You have to register the card at ShotFor100.com before the money will be loaded onto it.

3. This offer ends on October 30 or while supplies last.

Governor John Bel Edwards says

By expanding the Shot for 100 campaign to everyone in Louisiana, we hope to see tens of thousands of additional people get their first dose of the safe and effective COVID vaccines, so we can end this pandemic once and for all. If you’ve not yet been able to go Sleeves Up yet, we’re hoping a cool $100 will help make the decision easier.

State Health Officer Dr. Joe Kanter says “We must do everything we can to stay safe and stop the next surge, and that includes getting the COVID vaccine.”

Data from USA Facts shows close to 52% of Louisiana residents have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine. 45% of Louisiana residents are fully vaccinated. The Mayo Clinic has a vaccine tracker where you can check the vaccine rates for every state.
