When Texas folks need help, George Strait comes to the rescue. The country music king is on the lineup for the Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas event, which also features Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, and Asleep at the Wheel — among other country guests. The concert will benefit those victims of the horrific fires that destroyed thousands of  acres this summer, leaving thousands of families homeless in Texas.

The benefit show is scheduled for October 17 at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. It will raise money to help in replacing the estimated $250 million loss in damages. Making guest appearances are Eric Johnson, Steve Miller, Joe Satriani, Shawn Colvin, the Texas Tornados and the Court Yard Hounds.  Turk Pipkin and ‘Friday Night Lights’ star Kyle Chandler will host the event.

Strait and the other artists will autograph items that will be put to good use in a silent auction for the fire victims.  Specialty T-shirts will be made to also help pay for the benefit. Tickets prices are  $25-$250, with the higher priced tickets being VIP tickets that allow concert-goers close access to the stage as well as an exclusive lounge area.

Tickets are on sale now through the Austin Community Foundation.
