‘Deadpool 2’: Every Easter Egg, Reference, and Secret
Oh that Deadpool. Such a joker. He just loves to call people funny names. And he also knows he exists inside a movie. So if you’re paying attention to Deadpool 2 you can catch a lot of hidden jokes and references in his dialogue. Like, a lot. ScreenCrush’s Ryan Arey found over 100. Watch them all in the video above.
For example, when Deadpool calls Cable “One-Eyed Willy,” he’s not just making fun of the poor time traveler’s ocular condition. One-Eyed Willy is the name of the pirate in The Goonies, which starred, among other actors, a very young Josh Brolin. Today we know Josh Brolin as ... Thanos. Oh and also Cable. That makes more sense. (Also, Deadpool calls Cable Thanos at once point too.) There’s an even deeper cut Goonies reference later, when Deadpool is wearing a Hawaiian shirt with the exact same pattern as the one worn by Chunk in the film. (Where did he get that thing? We want one.)
