Dead Butt Syndrome, scientifically known as gluteal amnesia, is a real and scary thing. Apparently if you sit on your butt for long periods of time this could be a real danger for you.

What happens inside of your butt is that one or all of the three muscles stop working. Scientists use the term "reciprocal inhibition" according to Health.com. They go in depth about the explanation that when one muscle flexes the opposite muscle is supposed to relax. With Dead Butt Syndrome that flex and relax system doesn't work like it is supposed to.

Just hearing the phrase 'dead butt syndrome' makes me want to do squats.

How do you stop your butt from going dead? Easy, walk more. If you sit down for work take breaks from the chair and stretch and walk around.
