It's been about a decade since a professional golf tournament was played in the Shreveport / Bossier area ( who remembers the Buy.com Tour?), but that drought could come to an end soon if the area's movers and shakers have their way.

A group of city officials, members of the local business community and representatives of Southern Trace Country Club met this week with officials of the Symetra Tour to discuss the possibility of bringing an event to town.

Symetra, formerly known as The Futures Tour, is the official "feeder" tour to the Ladies Profesional Golf Association, with 23 tournaments already scheduled for this year. Every year the top ten Symetra money winners earn promotion to the LPGA tour.

The three day tournament would be played in early or mid September and the total purse would be around $100,000.
