Centenary Football Officially Returns This Season
It's been a while, but college football returns to Centenary College in Shreveport this season.
You might not know that one of the most incredible stories in college football history calls Shreveport home. The football program at Centenary College in Shreveport rose to national prominence, and ceased operations, all within a span of 25 years.
Between 1920 and 1941, Centenary College's football program had undefeated seasons, conference championships, beat some of the biggest programs in college football history, set NCAA records, took down a nationally ranked team in Shreveport, had All American players, and even suited up a future Pro Football Hall of Fame player. But all of that ended in the 1940s when the school cut off football, and it hasn't been seen since.

The first official game in their return will be a home game against Hendrix on Saturday, September 7th.
After that, they will hit the road for 3 straight away games, taking on Texas Lutheran, Austin, and East Texas Baptist.
October will feature 3 home games, and one away game. They will host Lyon, McMurry, and Austin, while hitting the road on October 19th to play at Lyon.
The season wraps up in November with a home game against Texas Lutheran, and their last game of the regular season will be November 16th at McMurry.
Centenary will be playing at the NCAA Division III level in their return to the football field. They will be a member of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), which is where they participate in many other sports.
