When I was a child, I loved animals, especially strays and I'd bring them home much to the dismay of my mother, who literally hated cats. Mom's dislike for cats came from her fear of felines that occurred the night as a little girl she was sleeping and she woke up with a cat in her face.

Even though my mother had a problem with cats,  I remember that she brought home a kitten for me from work one day.  He was gray, so we named him "Smokey."

Then, I had a striped cat named, "Tiger."

Tiger and our dog, Bandit didn't get along.
