Caddo Commission Could Spend Big Money To Monitor CPAS
Big bucks could be going to the dogs. The Caddo Parish Commission is considering spending 25 thousand dollars on high tech cameras and computers to install at the Caddo Parish Animal Shelter.
Commissioner Mario Chavez, who is pushing for the ordinance, believes the investment will help commissioners and the community keep tabs on the shelter. The shelter has been surrounded by controversy lately, including accusations of employees mistreating animals in their care.
Chavez says that the commission will ear mark 25 thousand dollars for the project, but the equipment may not cost that much. The written ordinance shows the budget will come out of two of the parish's funds: a Capital Outlay Fund, and a Health Tax Fund.
A final vote on the measure is expected to come today.
