Brad Paisley Gives a New Name to 2012 Tour
Over the holidays, Brad Paisley realized that his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tour name, the Cowabunga! Tour, was a smidgen outdated. So, with the dawning of 2012, it was out with the old and in with the new! Paisley will embark on his freshly-named Virtual Reality World Tour on Jan. 12.
The ‘Water’ hitmaker’s light bulb went off while he was rehearsing for the upcoming shows in December. “When you see plans and sketches on paper it’s one thing, but to actually see it in real life is something else, and that’s what happened to me when we were in tour rehearsals,” Paisley said in a statement on his official website. “When I saw the visuals and how exciting and sometimes mind-blowing they were, I just felt the tour name needed to reflect what the fans were going to see.”
“For two hours each night of the tour they can be taken away from reality — literally,” he added. That’s certainly a big promotion to live up to, but we have no doubt that the tour will be unlike anything Paisley has ever done before — especially given the all-star opening lineup of Scotty McCreery and the Band Perry.
Last month, Paisley teased his road show by calling the then-Cowabunga! Tour a “high-tech redneck” production, which certainly piqued our interest. “We’ve got some cool technology. I like to take technology to where people walk out not sure how we did certain things. That’s always a goal of mine,” he said. “We’ve got a few of those in our bag of tricks. I got to see them the other day for the first time, and I was floored.”
