UPDATE, Sept. 15, 2016: Louisiana DOTD says repairs have been made and the road is now back open.

ORIGINAL STORY:  The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has shut down part of a Bossier Parish road because of a pipe failure.

A large culvert beneath La. Hwy. 527, between U.S. 71 and La. 157 in Taylortown, has collapsed, creating a sinkhole. Officials say a stretch of highway between Pine Hill Road and Goat Hill Road will remain closed until repairs can be made.

The sinkhole is located about 100 yards west of the La. 527 intersection with Pine Hill. Traffic will reportedly be detoured onto Pine Hill and Goat Hill to avoid the damaged portion of roadway.

There's no word on how long it might take to fix the road.
