Body Of Missing LSU-Eunice Basketball Player Found In Idaho

The body of missing Everette Jackson, an LSUE basketball player, was reportedly found in Idaho. That's according to LSUE, who posted the details on their social media:

The 21-year-old basketball player went missing during a tubing trip to Idaho with friends. He disappeared while tubing on the Payette River in Western Idaho. Jackson was tubing with his girlfriend, when she told investigators that they lost control. She says Jackson was then swept away by the river. He was last seen on June 11th.

Unfortunately, after an extensive search, the Gem County Sheriff's Office announced they discovered Jackson's body. KTVB-TV reports that the Sheriff's Office says a volunteer about 2 miles downstream from where we had last been seen. The Sheriff's Office added that the search faced complications due to dangerously high, and fast moving, water levels on the river.

The search party for Jackson included multiple boats, helicopters, emergency responders, and volunteers. Gem County Sheriff Donnie Wunder said of the search:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this very difficult time. We are grateful to all of the emergency responders and volunteers who made this recovery possible.” 

Jackson's sister, Megan, told WDSU about her brother...

“Fun, adventurous, he loves to play basketball, loved basketball. He loved his family. He was very family-oriented. He just gets along with everybody" 

Jackson was a star basketball player at Central Lafrouche High School, where he played forward. The 6 foot 7 inch Jackson went on to play college basketball with LSUE after his high school career.
