Will Ben Roethlisberger Play Sunday for the Steelers?
Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger may be sidelined after suffering a foot injury in a 17-10 Pittsburgh loss to the Houston Texans.
The Steelers hope their two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback has a sprain and not a fracture in his left foot. The injury could keep Roethlisberger from the lineup when Pittsburgh hosts the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, reports the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
If it’s a grade III sprain, where all the ligaments are torn, it may take a month or more to completely heal, ” Dr. Lindsey Harrington told the Tribune-Review. But it is possible to get an athlete back on the field within a week or so if treated with appropriate taping or bracing for added stability and prevention of further injury to the ankle.”
Despite representing the AFC in last season’s Super Bowl, the Steelers have gotten off to a lukewarm 2-2 start, thanks in part to a series of injuries to the offensive line. Without a strong line, Roethlisberger was pressured often by the Texans pass rush, which sacked him five times last Sunday.
If Roethlisberger, who played with a stress fracture in his right foot last year, is out, back-up Charlie Batch would start.
