The 2021 Barksdale Air Force Base Air and Space Show is still a go for the weekend of May 8-9, but B-52 commander, Major Dan Drier, explains that this year's format is changing substantially.

Major Drier tells KEEL News this year's event will be a drive-in set up. Attendees will be required to stay in their vehicles, although folks will be allowed a little bit of space around your cars, etc., to set up chairs. However, Drier emphasizes that visitiors to the base won't be allowed to freely walk around the flight line.

Discussions are also ongoing about how many people will be allowed on the base. Drier says that electronic tickets will be required. Those "tickets" will be download to mobile devices to allow entry. As in previous years, the show will be free, but not as many people will be allowed to attend as in previous show years.

The changes are being put in place to limit the risk of spreading COVID-19 among the crowd:

You will also be required to wear a mask while attending the show. Masks can be removed while in your specific, designated area, but must put on to move around.

You can get details at the air show website: www.barksdale.af.mil

The Thunderbirds from the Air Force are scheduled to be at this show and the F-22 Raptor demo team will be in Bossier for the big show too.

You must have a ticket to get on the base to see the show. Click here to get tickets.
