‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Directors Kick Off Production With a Bunch of Trailers (It’s Not What You Think)
It’s a little too early to see any actual trailers for Avengers: Infinity War, especially since today marks the first official day of production for Marvel’s next big crossover event. To celebrate, directing duo Joe and Anthony Russo have shared a sneak peek at a bunch of trailers — but, like, the other kind. As for those other trailers, it’ll probably be another 11 months before the first one arrives.
Over on their Facebook page, the Russos shared a photo to commemorate the first day of production on Avengers: Infinity War, and it’s…literally a bunch of trailers. How clever:
It may not seem crazy-exciting, and it certainly doesn’t offer any first looks at new or returning characters (a list that continues to grow almost every day), but that photo sure does feature a lot of trailers — trailers to accommodate an increasing roster of stars, including MCU standards like Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, along with Guardians of the Galaxy stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista (those last few were more recently confirmed).
Whew. That’s a lot of people — and that’s before we even count Josh Brolin’s Thanos, Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther and Sebastian Stan’s Bucky / Winter Soldier. Oh, and let’s not forget recent addition Peter Dinklage, whose new makeover may offer a clue about his role. With a cast of that size, it’s no wonder the film was initially split into two parts (though it later became two standalone sequels).
Avengers: Infinity War will hit theaters on May 4, 2018, followed by the now-untitled sequel on May 3, 2019.
