A massive automobile accident shut down traffic on one of Bossier City's most traveled roads this afternoon. Now early into the investigation we've learned at least one person has died.

The accident happened at the intersection of Benton Road and Riverwood Drive. Officials say the accident occurred just before 4:40pm.

According to Bossier City officials, First Responders reported to the scene to find three vehicles involved in the accident. Authorities say that their investigation is in the early stages, but they have been able to establish a chain of events they currently believe took place.

As of now, officials believe a full-sized pickup truck side swiped a compact car, and rear ended another smaller car, both at a high rate of speed. Investigators say there were three people inside the smaller car that took the full rear-end impact, all were transported to Ochsner LSU Health, where one of them has been pronounced dead. The others are listed in Stable Condition.

The driver of the pickup is reported to have suffered moderate injuries, and was also transported for treatment.

Bossier City authorities say that at this time alcohol is suspected to be involved. But they note that the investigation is ongoing.
