A Former Pelicans Head Coach Finds a New Home in the NBA
Former New Orleans Pelicans Head Coach Monty Williams is a head coach again in the NBA.Williams has agreed to a five-year contract with the Phoenix Suns.
The 47-year-old was the Head Coach in New Orleans for five seasons, leading the franchise to two playoff appearances. Both of his playoff appearances in the playoffs were first round losses.
There was a lot of speculation that Williams would be taking the Los Angeles Lakers Head Coaching position this off season. It appears those rumors may have been rooted in the history that Williams has with Pelicans star Anthony Davis. The two were together in New Orleans for Davis' first two years in the NBA. The speculation is that Williams and Davis would reunite in LA with LeBron James once Davis is either traded or out of his current contract.
Clearly with the news of Williams taking the Suns job, that Lakers thing won't be happening.
Williams is currently an assistant coach with the 76ers.
