1/5 of Louisiana Residents Live Below Poverty Level
1 out of 5 Louisiana families are living at the poverty level. The latest census numbers for 2020 won't be released for a few more months, but the latest numbers don't look god for our state.
Only Mississippi has a higher percentage of families living below the poverty level.

16 % West Virginia
15.5 % Alabama
15.2 % Oklahoma
13.9 % Tennessee
13.8 % South Carolina
13.6 % North Carolina
And here's the list of states with the lowest numbers of residents living at the poverty level:
9.2 % New Jersey
9 % Minnesota
9 % Maryland
8.9 % Utah
7.3 % New Hampshire

The federal government numbers show the poverty rate is $12,760 or less for an individual.
