Johnny Cueto tossed a two-hitter and his Kansas City Royals teammates came through against Mets rising star, Jacob deGrom with a four-run fifth-inning to send him to the showers.

When Cueto recorded the 27th out, the American League champs had a 7-1 win tucked away and a 2-0 lead in the World Series with the scene shifting to New York for Game 3 Friday.

The Mets struck first on a Lucas Duda RBI single in the fourth.  Duda recorded the only hits against Cueto--the rest of the Mets were 0-25.

In the home-half of the fifth, Alcides Escobar tied the game with a run-producing base hit. Eric Hosmer chased Escobar and Alex Rios home with a single to make it 3-1 and he scored on a Mike Moustakos base knock to finish off deGrom. The Royals piled on in the eighth-inning. Game 1 hero, Alex Gordon doubled home one run; Paulo Orlando plated one run with a sacrifice fly and Escobar's triple completed the scoring.
