The Byrd Yellow Jackets send their crosstown rivals, the Captain Shreve Gators to their second straight district loss with their 8-7 extra inning victory Monday night.
It has been a magical year for the Captain Shreve baseball team, managed by Todd Sharp.
But, who knew this year would be the Gators' year to be on top?
Thursday night featured the biggest game in area high school baseball. The Captain Shreve Gators brought their undefeated record in district play (7-0) to Airline.
The Gators would leave Bossier City with a close victory in a thriller.
On a crisp homecoming night for the City of Byrd, the Jackets showcased one of their most dominating offenses of the season, crushing the Southwood Cowboys 38-6.
This turned out to be a timely victory as many students and Byrd alumni packed the stands to see how the Yellow Jackets could respond after last week's tough loss to the Parkway Panthers.
