Not since Shaquille O'Neal hooped in Baton Rouge has an LSU Tiger racked a triple-double until sophomore Tim Quarterman did so Saturday against Ole Miss. Quarterman helped the Tigers overcome an 11 point deficit to defeat the Rebels 73-63 in a key SEC contest.

LSU trailed by four points at the half despite ending the first period on a 10-1 run. It was all LSU in the second half, which included a 21-3 run at one point.

Quarterman finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists; most of which came in the second half. He, Shaq, and the great Pistol Pete are the only Tigers to ever record a triple-double. Quarterman was also impressive on defense, guarding Ole Miss' leading scorer, Stefan Moody, and holding him to 15 points on 3-16 shooting.

With the win, LSU (21-8, 10-6) moved into a tie for fourth place in the league standings with Georgia.

Jarell Martin had his third consecutive double-double, notching 18 points and 12 rebounds.

Jordan Mickey had four blocks and scored all 11 of his points in the second half after a slow start offensively.

Keith Hornsby totaled 16 points including four three-pointers.

LSU will play Tennessee on Wednesday in the season home finale and finish the regular season next weekend against Arkansas.

The Tigers hope to secure a double-bye in the SEC tournament and a slot in the NCAA tournament.
