COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Cardale Jones started Ohio State's season opener and was a double threat as the top-ranked Buckeyes opened their championship defense with a 42-24 win at Virginia Tech. Jones threw for 186 yards and two touchdowns, and he also carried 13 times for 99 yards and a score.

Receiver Braxton Miller also had a productive night, scoring on a 53-yard run and grabbing a 54-yard scoring pass from Jones.
