Minden St. Jude Auction Raising Money on KWKH

I've been privileged to take part in the 36th Annual Minden St. Jude Auction to help fund St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital held at the Minden Civic Center. 

What an exciting time I had today helping talk about the amazing prizes up for grabs to winners of drawings - the grand prize being a 2012 GMC Yukon Denali, or $50,000 cash.

The phones kept ringing (318-377-1100) with people making pledges.  To get in the running for those grand prizes, all you have to do is donate a $100 for the drawing.

There are items being raffled off all weekend long, like pizzas, karate memberships, LSU memorabilia and many other items and services donated by Minden businesses and those in the surrounding area.

For just a $10 donation you can grab a chance to win a beautiful red Can AM ATV.  There were golf carts, fish cookers, the Big Green Egg, and many other really big prizes you could win for small donations.

The exciting broadcast is being heard not only on AM 1130, KWKH all weekend long, but also on Minden's local radio station, and televised on Suddenlink Cable Channel 11.  The entire auction is being streamed live from the Minden St. Jude Auction website.

I was struck with the compassion of this community which yearly donates more per capita than any other city in the world to St. Jude's Hospital.  They've been at it for 36 years now and even the schools are all involved in the fund raising efforts.
