LSU (43-16), which a year ago found itself in the unusual position being on the outside looking in at the NCAA baseball tournament,  will step back into familiar territory Friday.

The Tigers take on the University of Louisiana-Monroe (31-28) at 7pm in a opening round game of the Baton Rouge regional at Alex Box Stadium. You can hear the game LIVE on AM-1130 The Tiger.

LSU is making its 25th appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Tigers have won six national championships, the last being in 2009.

LSU, which is coming off a 1-2 performance at last weekend's Southeastern Conference tournament, will send Aaron Nola (6-4, 3.93 ERA) to the mound. ULM will counter with former Tiger Randy Zeigler (5-6, 3.65 ERA).

Should LSU win, they will advance into the winner's bracket of the double-elimination tournament and play Saturday 7pm. A loss would send the Tigers into the loser's bracket, and a game Saturday at 2pm.

The other two teams in the regional, Oregon State and Belmont, will meet in Friday's first game at 2pm.

The winner of the Baton Rouge regional will advance to next week's Super Regional, a best two-out-of-three affair against the winner of the Coral Gables (FL) regional. Should LSU win their regional, the Tigers will host the Super Regional.
